A Medieval Fantasy Fiction Story
Sir Oliver feels as if he’s riding alone even though his Uncle Crimthann rides beside him and Sir Oisen rides behind beside Endellion. What is he to tell the giants and dwarves? Will you accept me as the regent of the queen? His uncle has already told me the giants and dwarves have their own king. They just never let the Proper’s king know. Another part of his thoughts, a smaller one but a preferred one is on the well-being of his own land. And Sir Afamefuna is likely planning an attack with Sir Ganbold against Sir Olaf. Is there a side he can choose? He was brought up since he first opened his eyes to obey the monarchy. He’s never liked Sir Olaf nor the late King Leopold. There was something weak and selfish about the deceased king. And Sir Olaf, what are his real intention? The King and Prince dead under questionable circumstances. The whole thing with Sir Ganbold being deceitful and atrocious doesn’t sit well with him either. Sir Ganbold, like Sir Afamefuna, has always been honorable. He would trust either man over Sir Olaf. He clenches his fists on the reins of Alberta. To make it worse, there’s the concern that the quarter moon ears will be attacked by a force only Sir Olaf seems to know about it. Sir Oisen and Endellion will be heading towards the quarter moon ears soon.
“Did I say congrats to you and Madame Swan,” he says with a gruff voice towards his uncle.
“No, I’m still confused,” Crimthann replies and his tone suggests it’s true. “Essentially, you and Endellion married us?”
“Yes. We tried to marry as many people as we could and it’s all recorded,” he replies.
“And you and Endellion?”
“She considers me her brother and you her father,” he replies.
“It’s good the world hasn’t gone mad,” his uncle says and they both laugh.
“There’s a spark between those two,” his uncle says.
“I’ll leave them to focus on that,” he says. “What am supposed to do with the giants and dwarves?”
“You could split the kingdom into three.”
“Three? You mean the Proper’s, giants and dwarves, and quarter moon ears?” Up ahead to his left he sees a two storey tavern. Two men are sawing a log. “Let’s see what’s going on,” he says and lightly nudges Alberta with his left knee.
“I could get a refill for my water skin and some other supplies,” Crimthann’s says in reply.
“Did a storm hit here?” he asks the men.
“No sir,” one of them replies. “A giant bear with a sword attacked the inn. That’s what the one child that survived told us.”
