The Witch is alone with the partially eaten and just stirring Nuevo Conquistador.  As she stares at a small fire surrounded by stones, she taps a vial of powder left by the one they call “Dizzying Blade” into the flames.  She leans back as blue flames shoot upwards.  The flames serve two purposes.  One, to signal the ship the female pirates came from, and two, to draw the attention of the Nuevo Conquistadors.

“I need to bury him,” she hears the Nuevo Conquistador say hoarsely from where he now leans up.  “And where is She?” he asks in an enraptured tone.

“Your comrade killed her,” she replies.

“But that girl with the bow, killed him first.”

“No.  You were trying to protect the angel and your comrade stabbed you in the thigh.  You drove your sword into his neck.”  The one called “Dizzying Blade” had used the Nuevo Conquistador’s own sword to make a bigger gash in his comrade’s neck.

“Another girl threw a throwing knife into my thigh.”  His face is pale and his eyes watery with fever and fervor.

She puts away the vial and takes out her scrying ball.  For a moment she stares into it.  “What you believe happened was from your delirious state.”  She stares deeper into the sphere.  With a stern expression she points towards some corked vials standing near the trunk of a nearby tree.  “Your comrade is burning in hell this moment.  He killed an angel and tried to kill you for protecting her, by stabbing you in the thigh.  You know deep within yourself that the angel ate the foulest part of you.  However, if you want to atone for your sins, and be with her again, you must mark each of the abodes, while your comrades sleep within, with holy salve.  But not the cages of the pets or the giants—they are innocent.”

“What of the ones on guard?” He asks, staring at the cloth wrapped around the stump where his hand used to be.

“That cloth is from her own clothing,” she replies.  “Before your comrade killed the angel, she tore a strip off her sleeve and asked me to wrap it around your healing wound.  In order to cleanse those guarding, you must slit their throats as an offering.”  If the burning concoction doesn’t wipe out enough of the Nuevo Conquistadors, she’ll return to her original plan.  There are enough rocks now along the cliff’s edge to damage most of the docked galleons.

She places her hand over the tiny sack hanging around her neck.  Closing her eyes, she focuses on the feel of her lover’s pulse.
