A Motley Sisterhood of Pirates!  BOOK TWO  (Part Fourteen: Blog Seventy)

By Dan Watt and Taylor Norris, co-authors of the Rita Walker series

A science fiction, action adventure, story-time, tale about mostly female pirates on the Nagua galleon helping others fight the Monstrous Captain Barthadrow and his vile crew.

Captain Olanis sits across from Admiral Alejandra in the Nagua’s Admiral’s room.  Lifting up a pewter mug half full of very limited Macieira Royal Spirit, she takes a sip as the Admiral talks.

“”Ship Builder” is distraught,” the Admiral says take a sips from her own pewter mug.

Olanis will miss Alejandra’s sing-song accent.

“He was searching for,” Alejandra says as she takes a gulp of brandy, “The Witch.”

“No luck?” Olanis asks, but she believes she already knows the answer.

“No, and he mentioned the bilge gives off a horrible reek.”

“Men,” Olanis says, and she and Alejandra laugh.

“It will be at least three weeks to get to the Deathly Shallows,” Alejandra tells her.  “We’ll need to careen both ships before we travel to Barthadrow’s Island.”  The Admiral makes a spitting sound and so does Olanis.

“Not the Pregnancy Ship?”  Olanis is aching to be with her man again, even if it was only a short while.  “Oh, well,” she says with a shrug, “what’s a while longer before the loins roar again?”  She’s a captain now, and responsibilities come before desires.  “I’ll make sure the girls keep up their weapons practice. and when we get to shallower water, they can collect reeds for bows and arrows.”  Captain Olanis smiles wanly at the Admiral.
