It was a mystery. A loud bang followed by tremors and the stench of vile and ancient beings escaping from the Earth’s core. Those closest to the cracks in the ground where the foul mist escaped, turned into something else. Their skin became mottled browns and greens and with every lumbering step they sniff for human flesh. The only noises they make are inaudible songs that sound like groans and growls.
Twenty years later it is just accepted that zombies roam the streets in packs of ten, and soon the blue moon will turn blood red.

Now Ashling and Briana must find a way to stop the arrival of the red moon or a carnage of feasting will devour what is left of humanity.

Although the descriptive narrative is in prose the thoughts and conversations are in singing verse.
