A Motley Sisterhood of Pirates! BOOK Three (Part Fourteen: Blog Eighty-four)
By Dan Watt and Taylor Norris, co-authors of the Rita Walker series
Sadie watches “Ship Protector” Umi the Ama in the dim light of twilight. “Ship Protector” is pulling on fish skin gloves that “Flag Protector” made for her before getting pregnant. She misses the girl once known as “The Harlot”. But she and her lover are safe for now, with the Horse People. Now she sees “Ship Protector” warming up by repeatedly pulling the string of her short bow. She turns to Thelma the Cannibal.
“You sure this is a good idea?” she whispers.
“I believe so,” the Cannibal answers with a nervous sigh. “I understand this Witch will make the “Shipbuilder” whole again, and is like a mother to Captain Alejandra and “Storm Caller”.
“Never met her myself,” Sadie admits with a shrug. “But she does seem to be very important to those you mentioned. However, remember what I said, if she’s been tainted. Better the loss of a lover and a mother than to bring a sister turned monster into our midst.”
“I’ll get the sense of her first,” the Cannibal assures her.
Sadie makes sure “Ship Protector” is gazing all around before she peers intently at the departing swaying hips of the Cannibal. The girl is gutsy. Before the Cannibal is out of sight she singles “Ship Protector” to move forward.
