From the camouflage of a jutting rock, halfway down a hill, and surrounded by bush, Sadie squints into the twilight tinted horizon. She can make out the peak of a hill with a wall made of large rocks. Dotting the slope of the hill are numerous rocks and boulders with a few strange looking outcrops. They look like human made constructions but inadequately oversized.
They had rested inside an abandoned cave with obvious signs that something had once lived inside. “Where are the larger animals?” she whispers.
“It could be that they were all killed and eaten,” suggests the Cannibal. “That’s what drove my ancestors to cannibalism.”
“Peg Leg’s missing leg, I’m surprised there’s this many trees still standing,” she says with a scowl.
“Who’s that?” she hears “Ship Protector” whisper from a fathom away. “Too lithe and short to be a Nueva Conquistador. To your left, near the edge of the forest?
Sadie turns her attention to a cowled figure holding out a scrying ball. “Don’t tell the “Ship Builder” I said this,” she warns, “but if they’ve indoctrinated her, she dies, and we tell all the sisters it was done by Captain Barthadrow’s scum.” She spits. “But if she’s still one of us—we’ll make sure our presence is known before we leave with her.”
