A Motley Sisterhood of Pirates! BOOK Three (Part Fourteen: Blog Seventy-nine)
By Dan Watt and Taylor Norris, co-authors of the Rita Walker series
“Where is Thelma?” she hears “Ship Protector” ask in a desperate whisper.
“Why are you awake before me?” Sadie demands in a confused whisper. It’s still dark out but the fog has mostly lifted.
“Maybe I fell asleep before you,” “Ship Protector” replies with a diplomatic whisper.
“Peg Leg’s stump, we have to find her,” Sadie says, getting up woozily. “We’ll leave the buckets here under some brush.”
Sadie moves between trees and granite outcrops at a speed that allows “Ship Protector” to stay near enough to cover her with her bow. They come to what looks to be a cliff. Sadie gets on her belly and crawls to the edge and peers down. There’s only a drop of a few fathoms. At the bottom, she sees a small pond, not much wider than the length of a yacht, with a little island in the centre. The little island is mostly covered in long stemmed plants with wide long leaves and a furry looking head. In a small open gap on the island, sit the Cannibal and a powerful looking man. Both are naked. The Cannibal is smiling at the man as she chews off his index finger. The man is grinning gleefully as he gazes at her with a worshipful stare.
Sadie feels “Ship Protector” squeeze up beside her.
“Absolutely nothing moving around up here but some small animals and birds,” “Ship Protector” tells her, then gags.
“I just hope this doesn’t take all night,” Sadie complains.
“Can she eat all of him?” “Ship Protector” asks her. “He’s far bigger than her.”
“Better him than us,” Sadie replies as she takes a quick glance around.
“Does she have sex with him first, they’re both nude?” “Ship Protector” asks.
“Don’t know, but you’ll get a chance to ask her,” Sadie replies impatiently. “Let’s get down there and collect our satiated Cannibal.”
She feels the “Ship Protector’s” hand on her arm. “Thelma is waiving good-bye to him. He’s just blown her a kiss.”
Sadie sees the Cannibal and her partial feast swimming leisurely in opposite directions. “We’ll sneak down and wait for her to dress,” she says irritably. “And hope the vial blood and meat of prey she’s devoured doesn’t infect her with blasphemy.”
