A Motley Sisterhood of Pirates! BOOK Three (Part Fourteen: Blog Seventy-Seven)
By Dan Watt and Taylor Norris, co-authors of the Rita Walker series
The white glow of Cachaça allows Sadie to see down at least six fathoms. As they near the island, the rocky bottom with it’s hills of coral intermixed with sea plants becomes more visible. Sticking out of some rocks, she sees a bronze trident that dolphin heads use, and makes sure she remembers the location. There are also remnants of trained coral, grown into buildings. But the buildings have all been smashed by boulders.
As the land slopes up, Sadie catches sight of Umi signaling with her hand to go cautiously above the surface. As they take cover behind a boulder have sunk in the water, she follows Umi’s lead and quickly pulls in the rope of her floating bucket. Nodding to Umi and the Cannibal, she takes out a throwing knife, while the others each take out a short bow from their buckets, and nock an arrow.
As she moves first up the shore, listening intently in the dim light, she notices that Cachaça and Eau-de-vie will soon cross one anther. Which means, the Cannibal will need to eat.
