A Motley Sisterhood of Pirates! BOOK TWO (Part Fourteen: Blog Sixty-Nine)
By Dan Watt and Taylor Norris, co-authors of the Rita Walker series
Captain Olanis listens as First Mate Zala calls out to all the girls.
“Our new sister ship, Freya, will be sailing near to the Nagua,” Zala shouts out. “And thus, Captain Olanis has named Captain Alejandra, Admiral. All those in agreement to naming our Captain, Admiral, say yea!”
Olanis peers at all those gathered and hears “Yea!” shouted out.
“All those not in favour yell nay,” Zala shouts.
Olanis sees Alejandra stand proudly on the fo’c’sle as the ship goes quiet. She steadies her feet as the wind begins to pick up.
The Admiral steps up to the fo’c’sle railing. Olanis watches as the Admiral gazes around the gathering. “We are all sister,” the Admiral says in her strong, Dominican accent. “And the wind is strengthening so we must sail. Be fearless and wise, our sisters who leave for the Freya now. For we follow in the path of Cannibals,” Olanis sees the Admiral glance at Melinda, “the Sames, the Real Talls, and our brothers in the Unbroken. May the Surprise catch up to us, at the Deathly Shallows.”
